What do we need for a valid nikah?
The free consent of both bride and groom, the bride’s wali (guardian), two adult Muslim witnesses, and an agreed mahr (dower). We confirm all of this at the consultation so the day itself is simple and joyful.
Can you lead the nikah at our home?
Yes. Most nikahs we lead take place at family homes across London. Masjids, halls and restaurants are equally welcome, and for organising packages we liaise with the venue for you.
Is a nikah performed by London Muslims legally recognised in the UK?
A nikah is a religious marriage. For legal recognition you also need a civil ceremony at a register office or licensed venue. We explain this at your consultation and recommend booking the civil ceremony before or on the same day.
What does organising the ceremony include?
Planning meetings with both families, the order of the day, timings, seating, arranging witnesses and wali where needed, the mahr agreement and written record, and for the full package, venue liaison, hosting and coordination with caterers and photographers on the day.
How far in advance should we book?
Two to three weeks for officiating, four to six weeks for organising packages. Short notice is often possible, so ask.
Do you lead nikah for reverts or where one family is not Muslim?
Yes, with care. We guide the couple on the requirements, help arrange a wali where appropriate, and explain the ceremony to non-Muslim family members so everyone feels included.
