Al-Quran & Marriage 

1

وَقَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى:

هُنَّ لِبَاسٌ لَّكُمْ وَاَنْتُمْ لِبَاسٌ لَّهُنَّ

They are a clothing for you and you are a clothing for them. . (Al-Baqarah [2] : 187)

قَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ، وَمُجَاهِدٌ، وَسَعِيدُ بْنُ جُبَير، وَالْحَسَنُ، وَقَتَادَةُ، وَالسُّدِّيُّ، وَمُقَاتِلُ بْنُ حَيَّانَ: يَعْنِي هُنَّ سَكَن لَكُمْ، وَأَنْتُمْ سَكَنٌ لَهُنَّ.

LikeWise

هُوَ الَّذِيْ خَلَقَكُمْ مِّنْ نَّفْسٍ وَّاحِدَةٍ وَّجَعَلَ مِنْهَا زَوْجَهَا لِيَسْكُنَ اِلَيْهَاۚ

He is the One who has created you from a single soul, and out of him created his wife, so that he may find comfort in her

Al-A'raf Verse 189

LikeWise

وَمِنْ اٰيٰتِهٖٓ اَنْ خَلَقَ لَكُمْ مِّنْ اَنْفُسِكُمْ اَزْوَاجًا لِّتَسْكُنُوْٓا اِلَيْهَا وَجَعَلَ بَيْنَكُمْ مَّوَدَّةً وَّرَحْمَةً ۗاِنَّ فِيْ ذٰلِكَ لَاٰيٰتٍ لِّقَوْمٍ يَّتَفَكَّرُوْنَ(الروم:٢١)

And it is among His signs that He has created for you wives from among yourselves, so that you may find tranquility in them, and He has created love (affection)and kindness (mercy)between you. Surely in this there are signs for a people who reflect.

وَجَعَلَ بَيْنَهُمْ وَبَيْنَهُنَّ مَوَدَّةً: وَهِيَ الْمَحَبَّةُ، وَرَحْمَةً: وَهِيَ الرَّأْفَةُ،

(أشفق عليه ورحِمه أشدّ الرحمة)

وَقَوْلِهِ تَعَالَى:

يٰٓاَيُّهَا الَّذِيْنَ اٰمَنُوْا لَا يَحِلُّ لَكُمْ اَنْ تَرِثُوا النِّسَاۤءَ كَرْهًا ۗ وَلَا تَعْضُلُوْهُنَّ لِتَذْهَبُوْا بِبَعْضِ مَآ اٰتَيْتُمُوْهُنَّ اِلَّآ اَنْ يَّأْتِيْنَ بِفَاحِشَةٍ مُّبَيِّنَةٍ ۚ

O you who believe, it is not lawful for you that you should forcibly take women as inheritance. Do not hold on to them so that you may take away some of what you have given them, unless they commit a clearly shameful act.

وَعَاشِرُوْهُنَّ بِالْمَعْرُوْفِ ۚ

Live with them in the recognized manner(kindly).

وَقَوْلُهُ: ﴿وَعَاشِرُوهُنَّ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ﴾ أَيْ: طيِّبُوا أَقْوَالَكُمْ لَهُنَّ، وحَسّنُوا أَفْعَالَكُمْ وَهَيْئَاتِكُمْ بِحَسَبِ قُدْرَتِكُمْ، كَمَا تُحِبُّ ذَلِكَ مِنْهَا،

وَلَهُنَّ مِثْلُ الَّذِى عَلَيْهِنَّ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ​
And they have rights similar over them to what is reasonable. (2;228)​

by saying kind words to them, treating them kindly and making your appearance appealing for them, as much as you can, just as you like the same from them

فَاِنْ كَرِهْتُمُوْهُنَّ فَعَسٰٓى اَنْ تَكْرَهُوْا شَيْـًٔا وَّيَجْعَلَ اللّٰهُ فِيْهِ خَيْرًا كَثِيْرًا (النساء:١٩)

 If you dislike them, then it is quite likely that you dislike something and Allah has placed a lot of good in it.

An-Nisa Verse 19

أَيْ: فعَسَى أَنْ يَكُونَ صَبْرُكُمْ مَعَ إِمْسَاكِكُمْ لَهُنَّ وَكَرَاهَتِهِنَّ فِيهِ، خَيْرٌ كَثِيرٌ لَكُمْ فِي الدُّنْيَا وَالْآخِرَةِ.

Allah says that your patience, which is demonstrated by keeping wives whom you dislike, carries good rewards for you in this life and the Hereafter

عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ

لَا يَفْرَكْ مُؤْمِنٌ مُؤْمِنَةً إِنْ كَرِهَ مِنْهَا خُلُقًا رَضِيَ مِنْهَا آخَرَ

Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “A believing man does not despise a believing woman. If he finds something in her character he dislikes, he will be pleased by something else.”

فَرِكَ الرَّجُلُ : كَرِهَ، أَبْغَضَ ، لاَ يَفْرَكْ مُؤْمِنٌ مُؤْمِنَةً

Al-Hadith & Nikah

1

Best love affair 

عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ

‏"‏ لَمْ نَرَ لِلْمُتَحَابَّيْنِ مِثْلَ النِّكَاحِ ‏"‏ ‏.‏

the Messenger of Allah said: “There is nothing like marriage, for two who love one another.”

Grade:Hasan(Darussalam)

Likewise

عَنْ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ

النِّكَاحُ مِنْ سُنَّتِي فَمَنْ لَمْ يَعْمَلْ بِسُنَّتِي فَلَيْسَ مِنِّي

وَتَزَوَّجُوا فَإِنِّي مُكَاثِرٌ بِكُمْ الْأُمَمَ وَمَنْ كَانَ ذَا طَوْلٍ فَلْيَنْكِحْ وَمَنْ لَمْ يَجِدْ فَعَلَيْهِ بِالصِّيَامِ فَإِنَّ الصَّوْمَ لَهُ وِجَاءٌ

Aisha reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Marriage is part of my Sunnah. Whoever does not act upon my Sunnah is not part of me. Give each other in marriage, for I will boast of your great numbers before the nations. Whoever has the means, let him contract a marriage. Whoever does not have the means should fast, as fasting will restrain his impulses.”

Another Narration

عَنْ أَنَسٍ أَنَّ نَفَرًا مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ سَأَلُوا أَزْوَاجَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ عَمَلِهِ فِي السِّرِّ فَقَالَ بَعْضُهُمْ لَا أَتَزَوَّجُ النِّسَاءَ وَقَالَ بَعْضُهُمْ لَا آكُلُ اللَّحْمَ وَقَالَ بَعْضُهُمْ لَا أَنَامُ عَلَى فِرَاشٍ فَحَمِدَ اللَّهَ وَأَثْنَى عَلَيْهِ فَقَالَ

مَا بَالُ أَقْوَامٍ قَالُوا كَذَا وَكَذَا لَكِنِّي أُصَلِّي وَأَنَامُ وَأَصُومُ وَأُفْطِرُ وَأَتَزَوَّجُ النِّسَاءَ فَمَنْ رَغِبَ عَنْ سُنَّتِي فَلَيْسَ مِنِّي

1401 صحيح مسلم كتاب النكاح باب استحباب النكاح لمن تاقت نفسه إليه ووجد مؤنه واشتغال من عجز عن المؤن بالصوم

Anas ibn Malik reported: Some of the companions of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, asked the wives of the Prophet about deeds that he performed in private. Some said, “I will not marry women.” And some said, “I will not eat meat.” And some said, “I will never sleep in a bed.” The Prophet praised and glorified Allah, and he said, “What is the matter with some people who say this? I pray and I sleep, I fast and I break fasting, and I marry women. Whoever does not desire my Sunnahis not part of me.”

Another Narration

عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ

مَنْ رَغِبَ عَنْ سُنَّتِي فَلَيْسَ مِنِّي

Abdullah ibn Amr reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Whoever does not desire my Sunnah is not a part of me.”

رغبعن الشّيء

• ترَكه وزهِد فيه :-رغِبعن الرذائل- {وَمَنْيَرْغَبُعَنْ مِلَّةِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ إلاَّ مَنْ سَفِهَ نَفْسَهُ}.

Best of you

عَنْ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ

خَيْرُكُمْ خَيْرُكُمْ لِأَهْلِهِ وَأَنَا خَيْرُكُمْ لِأَهْلِي

وَإِذَا مَاتَ صَاحِبُكُمْ فَدَعُوهُ

3895 سنن الترمذي كتاب المناقب باب فضل أزواج النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم

Aisha reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “The best of you are the best to their families, and I am the best to my family. When your companion dies, then do not abuse him.”

Sunnah to follow 

لَّقَدْ كَانَ لَكُمْ فِى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ أُسْوَةٌ حَسَنَةٌ​
Indeed in the Messenger of Allah you have a good example to follow. (33;21)​

عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ

مَنْ سَرَّهُ أَنْ يُبْسَطَ لَهُ فِي رِزْقِهِ أَوْ يُنْسَأَ لَهُ فِي أَثَرِهِ فَلْيَصِلْ رَحِمَهُ

2067 صحيح البخاري كتاب البيوع باب من أحب البسط في الرزق

بَسَطَ الأمورَ أَمامَهُ : عَرَضَها وَكَشَفَ عَنْها

نسَأه؛ أطال في عمره

Anas ibn Malikreported: TheMessenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Whoever is pleased to have his provision expanded and his life span extended, let him keep good relations with his family.”

Best joy in the world

عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ

الدُّنْيَا مَتَاعٌ وَخَيْرُ مَتَاعِ الدُّنْيَا الْمَرْأَةُ الصَّالِحَةُ

1467 صحيح مسلم كتاب الرضاع باب خير متاع الدنيا المرأة الصالحة

Abdullah ibn Amr reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “The world is enjoyment and the best enjoyment in the world is a righteous wife.”

Best wealth

عَنْ ثَوْبَانَ قَالَ قَالَ النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم

أَفْضَلُهُ يعني المال لِسَانٌ ذَاكِرٌ وَقَلْبٌ شَاكِرٌ وَزَوْجَةٌ مُؤْمِنَةٌ تُعِينُهُ عَلَى إِيمَانِهِ

Thawban reported: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “The best wealth is a tongue that remembers Allah, a grateful heart, and a believing wife to help one in his faith.”

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ مُرَّةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، عَنْ سَالِمِ بْنِ أَبِي الْجَعْدِ، عَنْ ثَوْبَانَ، قَالَ لَمَّا نَزَلَ فِي الْفِضَّةِ وَالذَّهَبِ مَا نَزَلَ قَالُوا فَأَىَّ الْمَالِ نَتَّخِذُ قَالَ عُمَرُ فَأَنَا أَعْلَمُ لَكُمْ ذَلِكَ ‏.‏ فَأَوْضَعَ عَلَى بَعِيرِهِ فَأَدْرَكَ النَّبِيَّ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ وَأَنَا فِي أَثَرِهِ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ

أَىَّ الْمَالِ نَتَّخِذُ فَقَالَ ‏"‏ لِيَتَّخِذْ أَحَدُكُمْ قَلْبًا شَاكِرًا وَلِسَانًا ذَاكِرًا وَزَوْجَةً مُؤْمِنَةً تُعِينُ أَحَدَكُمْ عَلَى أَمْرِ الآخِرَةِ ‏"‏ ‏.‏

Grade:Hasan(Darussalam)

Thawban said: “When the Verse concerning silver and gold was revealed, they said: 'What kind of wealth should we acquire?' Umar said: 'I will tell you about that.' So he rode on his camel and caught up with the Prophet, and I followed him. He said: 'O Messenger of Allah what kind of wealth should we acquire?' He said: 'Let one of you acquire a thankful heart, a tongue that remembers Allah and a believing wife who will help him with regard to the Hereafter.' ”

حُبِّبَ إِلَيَّ مِنْ الدُّنْيَا النِّسَاءُ وَالطِّيبُ وَجُعِلَ قُرَّةُ عَيْنِي فِي الصَّلَاةِ

Anas reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Beloved to me in the world are women and perfume, yet the delight of my eyes is in prayer.”

Be good as she created different

عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رضى الله عنه قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم

اسْتَوْصُوا بِالنِّسَاءِ

فَإِنَّ الْمَرْأَةَ خُلِقَتْ مِنْ ضِلَعٍ وَإِنَّ أَعْوَجَ شَىْءٍ فِي الضِّلَعِ أَعْلاَهُ فَإِنْ ذَهَبْتَ تُقِيمُهُ كَسَرْتَهُ وَإِنْ تَرَكْتَهُ لَمْ يَزَلْ أَعْوَجَ

فَاسْتَوْصُوابِالنِّسَاءِ خَيْرًا

Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “I enjoin you to treat women well, for the woman was created from a rib and the most curved part of the rib is its highest point. If you try to straighten it, you will break it. If you leave it as it is, it will remain bent. Thus, I enjoin you to be good to women.”
