There has certainly come to you a Messenger from among yourselves. Grievous to him is what you suffer; [he is] concerned over you [i.e.,for your guidance/for your welfare] And to the believers is kind and merciful. (At-Tawbah [9] : 128)

Surely Allah is Very-Kind to the people, Very-Merciful.

So, (O Prophet,) let not your soul collapse in grief for them. Surely Allah knows well what they are doing.

Abdullah ibn Amr reported: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, recited the saying of Allah Almighty about Abraham, upon him be peace, “My Lord, the idols have misled many people, so whoever follows me is part of me,” (14:36). And the words of Jesus, upon him be peace, “If You punish them, they are Your servants, but if You forgive them, You are the Almighty, the Wise.” (5:117). Then the Prophet raised his hands and he said, “O Allah, my nation, my nation!” And the Prophet wept. Allah Almighty said, “O Gabriel, go to Muhammad– and your Lord is most knowing –and ask him why he is crying.” Gabriel came to him and he asked him and the Prophet told him about it, though Allah knows best. Allah said, “O Gabriel, go to Muhammad and say: Verily, We will please you regarding your nation and We will not disappoint you.”

The Prophet (ﷺ) delivered to us a sermon on the Day of Nahr. He said, "Do you know what is the day today?" We said, "Allah and His Apostle know better." He remained silent till we thought that he might give that day another name. He said, "Isn't it the Day of Nahr?" We said, "It is." He further asked, "Which month is this?" We said, "Allah and His Apostle know better." He remained silent till we thought that he might give it another name. He then said, "Isn't it the month of Dhul-Hijja?" We replied: "Yes! It is." He further asked, "What town is this?" We replied, "Allah and His Apostle know it better." He remained silent till we thought that he might give it another name. He then said, "Isn't it the forbidden (Sacred) town (of Mecca)?" We said, "Yes. It is." He said, "No doubt, your blood and your properties are sacred to one another like the sanctity of this day of yours, in this month of yours, in this town of yours, till the day you meet your Lord. No doubt! Haven't I conveyed Allah's message to you? They said, "Yes." He said, "O Allah! Be witness. So it is incumbent upon those who are present to convey it (this information) to those who are absent because the informed one might comprehend it (what I have said) better than the present audience, who will convey it to him. Beware! Do not renegade (as) disbelievers after me by striking the necks (cutting the throats) of one another."

Best Ummah

You are the best ‘Ummah ever raised for mankind. You bid the Fair and forbid the Unfair, and you believe in Allah

It means: the best of people for people

"We were told that Umar bin Al-Khattab recited thisAyah(3;110) during aHajjthat he performed, when he saw that the people were rushing. He then said, `Whoever likes to be among this (praised)Ummah, let him fulfill the condition that Allah set in thisAyah."'

Chosen One

Allah chooses (and pulls) toward Himself anyone He wills, and guides to Himself anyone who turns to Him (to seek guidance).

Likewise

And strive for Allah with the striving due to Him. He has chosen you and has not placed upon you in the religion any difficulty. [It is] the religion of your father, Abraham. He [i.e., Allah] named you "Muslims" before [in former scriptures] and in this [revelation] that the Messenger may be a witness over you and you may be witnesses over the people.

If you do not help him, (it makes no difference to the Prophet, because) Allah has already helped him when the disbelievers expelled him, and he was the second of the two, when they were in the cave, and he was saying to his companion, “Do not grieve. Allah is surely with us.”So, Allah caused His tranquility to descend on him,and supported him with troops that you did not see, and rendered the word of the disbelievers humiliated. And the word of Allah is the uppermost. Allah is Mighty, Wise.

The Prophet kept reassuring him and strengthening his resolve, saying,

O Abu Bakr! What do you think about two, with Allah as their third!
